| Author Leo Dix, 51, of 711 Hecker Street, stricken at 4 P.M. yesterday at  his home, was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Elizabeth's hospital in a  George Renner and Sons ambulance. A former stove mounter and an Army  veteran of World War II, he had been falling health for three years. His  brother-in-law, Elmer Flach, died suddenly last Saturday in Milwaukee.  Mrs Dix and Mrs Flach are daughters of Mr. and Mrs George Fisher, 7021  Lebanon Ave. A son of William L. and Mary E. Dix, nee Hagan, Mr Dix was  born in St. Louis, June 26, 1912. His father, who was a tamale vendor,  preceded him in death; his mother is now the wife of James Miles Sr.,  1531 Lebanon Avenue. He married Irene Fisher in Belleville, February 23,  1935. Besides his wife, mother, and step-father, he is survived by two  sons, William L. and Donald A. Dix both of 771 Hecker Street; two  brothers, Elemer J. Dix, Cahokia and Harold B. Dix, Mascoutah; a sister,  Leona, wife of Author Beil, 1122 State Street, two grandchildren Rochelle  and Kerry Dix. The funeral will be held at 1:30 P.M., Monday from the  George Renner and Sons Funeral Home at William Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Dr  Alfred F. Schroeder, pastor of Christ united Church of Christ, will  officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 P.M. Saturday. |
