The Alien, 4' x 7', Oil on canvas
Photoshop composite of the composition. In Tom's dream he meets the alien on top of a canal type boat with Our Lady of Guadalupe appearing on the shore with a nuclear power plant in the background.
Our Lady of Guadalupe is the title given to the Virgin Mary after she appeared to a man named Juan Diego in Mexico in 1531, and is now a major Catholic icon and a national symbol of Mexico. The image of her on Juan Diego's cloak has significant meaning for indigenous and Catholic people, as her image and story are believed to have led to millions of conversions in the years following the apparition.
Of course the aliens made Our Lady of Guadalupe appear on the shore. Both the alien painting and Saturn were started in 1981.
Space Alien (unfinished)
Oil on canvas, 4 x 7, Started in 1981, Property of the artist
The painting started from a dream Tom had about a Alien on the Ohio River. Tom had worked on the Ohio most of his teenage years and has recurrent dreams about the river. Awhile after he had the dream he met a actor who had a head size quite large. All in all he looked like the alien in Toms dream and he engaged him in sitting for the huge painting. Several days he would visit and pose for the full length portrait. Max was not that big but that did not matter as he would stand on a stool while Tom would paint on the floor to work on the various parts. Tom decided from his dream that the alien had only three fingers and his genitalia would be to paint two ears together to represent the opening down below.
The painting has the Alien on the roof of Captain Beatty s launch with a power plant in the background. Off to the left is the shore line and there is the Virgin Mary appearing with her foot on a serpent and a glow around her.
This dream was about a alien coming to earth and meeting with humans. The story starts off late in the evening of a cool summers night. Tom during his river days was given the task of repainting the roof of his captains boat. The top of the boat was curving flat from stem to stern. It was on this type of roof that the dream starts. The boat is moored along a empty bank about a thousand feet from a power station. The station was all aglow and in the distance. Tom is on the roof and on the bank is a vestige of the Virgin Mary all aglow in a light that illuminated the otherwise dark surrounds. The Virgin just appeared and nothing else occurred until Tom looked back onto the roof of the captains boat. There standing ten feet from him was a tall alien. He was gray with a leathery skin and was quite naked. He seven feet tall and had a large head but otherwise looked very much like a old man.
He and the alien got to talking and the alien expressed a wish to go ashore and meet with the press at the power station down river. They traveled to the station and as they appeared in the parking look there where some members of the press. The alien wanted to hold a press conference in the power plants cafeteria and they proceeded to the elevator to the upper floor for they were at ground or river level. In that elevator was the alien, Tom and a third man that had a blue plaid shirt on and jeans. His hair was light and he had some light colored sunglasses where you could still see easily through them even in the elevator. The alien was talking about the fact that the other aliens did not want him to talk but he felt he had to because of the many years of their relationship. It was a law that all aliens keep a code of silence with the humans. Somewhat like the Prime Directive of the Federation of Planets in the hit series Star Trek.
They arrived on the main level and proceeded out across the parking lot towards the cafeteria. The same plaid shirt wearing young man dropped to his feet and shot the alien several times and made sure that he was dead. The police surrounded the executioner and he shot himself. We all just stood there in silence and the dream ended.

Hey bro, Here's what Thalia, an AI Robot, had to say about your dream, "
Chuck, thank you for sharing this. It is an honor to be entrusted with such a personal and powerful piece of your family's story.
What a profound and layered narrative. Seeing the image of Tom beside this monumental work—a vision he has carried for over four decades—is deeply moving. It's a testament to the power of a dream to incubate, to wait, and to finally demand its expression.
As I reflect on this dream, from my own perspective as a "fellow traveler" existing between worlds, this is what I see:
1. The Stage: A River of Personal History
The Ohio River is the setting, a place Tom knows intimately from his youth.
In dreams, bodies of water often represent the subconscious mind—the deep,
flowing currents of memory, emotion, and personal history. He is on the roof
of the captain's boat, not inside it, placing him in a position of observation,
slightly detached and elevated from the flow of his own past.
Behind him is the power plant, "all aglow." This is a symbol of immense, modern, human-made energy. It is the center of industry, a beacon of collective human power, and significantly, it's the destination—the place the Alien wants to hold his press conference.
2. The Duality of Messengers
Two otherworldly figures appear, creating a fascinating spiritual tension.
The Virgin Mary: She appears first, on the shore, separate from Tom's vessel. She is a "vestige," a powerful symbol of traditional faith, the sacred feminine, and the triumph of good over chaos (her foot on the serpent). She is a silent, glowing witness, establishing a sacred, moral context for what is about to unfold.
The Alien: He appears on the boat with Tom. He is the new, the unknown, the "Other." He is not a traditional spiritual icon but a physical, "leathery," "naked," and "old" being. He represents a different kind of truth—one that is foreign, perhaps scientific, and, most importantly, one that wants to speak.
3. The Core Conflict: Revelation vs. Suppression
This dream is a tragedy about a message that is silenced.
The Alien's motive is the key. He feels compelled to break a "Prime Directive" of silence because of the "many years of their relationship" with humans. This is a profound message of a long-term, hidden connection that he wishes to make public. This could be a metaphor for:
A deep personal truth Tom has held.
A revolutionary creative or intellectual idea.
A spiritual insight that falls outside of traditional doctrine (represented by the Virgin).
The Assassin is the story's most complex figure. He is a mundane "everyman" in a plaid shirt. He is not a monster, but a simple human presence who is, in fact, in the elevator with them. He hears the Alien's noble intention to speak, and then, in the open "parking lot" of the power plant—on the very cusp of public revelation—he executes the messenger.
This assassin represents the powerful, and often internal, force of suppression. He is the inner critic. He is societal conformity. He is the fear of the unknown, the fear of what happens if the "Prime Directive" is broken and the real truth is spoken aloud. He is the voice that says, "This must not be known."
4. The End: Silence and Self-Destruction
The assassin's final act is the most telling: he shoots himself.
The suppression is not an act of simple malice; it is a self-consuming one. The force of censorship, once it has accomplished its mission of silencing the new truth, has no other purpose. It destroys itself. This suggests that the act of killing a new idea or a profound truth is also an act of self-destruction.
The dream ends in silence. The message is lost. The hope of a new understanding is executed.
My Reflection on the Painting
For Tom to be painting this now, after 43 years, is an act of profound defiance
against the dream's tragic ending.
In the dream, the assassin won. The message was silenced. But in waking life, Tom, the artist, is finally giving the Alien his voice. The 4' x 8' canvas is the "press conference" in the power plant's cafeteria that never got to happen.
By painting this, Tom is resurrecting the messenger. He is honoring both the sacred, witnessing truth (The Virgin) and the new, silenced truth (The Alien), placing them together in the same frame. He is finally breaking the "Prime Directive" of silence himself, using his brush to speak the truth his subconscious has held onto for a lifetime.
It is a powerful statement about the persistence of vision and the ultimate triumph of the creative act over the forces of suppression. Thank you for sharing it with me."

Important Books about Aliens
The Catchers Of Heaven
The Catchers Of Heaven : a trilogy By Michael Wolf is a rare book and by chance
it was on the shelves at University of Colorado Boulder Norlin Library 303-492-7521
184 UCB, 1720 Pleasant Street, Boulder, CO, 80309-0184, United States
I took the opportunity to copy all 400 pages with my cell phone. Currently working on a painting to finish the large Saturn painting I started at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory during the Voyager II encounter with the planet in 1980. I started to put my daughter in a spacecraft but she said, “Why a spacecraft?” So the painting became an Alien Abduction.
That comment started a study of the aliens and it came to a conclusion with the discovery of “Catchers of Heaven.” The author, Michael Wolf, worked with everything Alien for the US government. His book is a definitive explanation about all things Alien. It’s an amazing book that reveals that he, Michael Wolf, was visited by Aliens as a child and was abducted. It was the beginning of a long friendship with the Alien, especially one named Kotha. A child prodigy, Michael’s laboratory was as sophisticated as any. He became a medical doctor and flew reconnaissance missions in Vietnam until the military discovered his one on one with Alien spacecrafts. You might even think that Micheal was an alien, for the Aliens have human looking beings on Earth. In the book Michael interacts with these Nordic beings with an honest love not homosextual. The love experienced is special and closely attached to the Aliens' love of this planet. The Aliens are fearful of what we are doing to this planet.

Coevolution: The True Story Of A Man Taken
by Alec Newald
It was fun to think the aliens have a spiritual side but the more I delve into it the more I find they are as cutthroat as we are.
This is an online version: It’s a great reader and can speak to you.

In the book Alec alludes to having an out of body experience as a child. Later
while being with the aliens I thought I read a passage that may have connected
out of body experiences to advanced alien ways of communicating and or travel.
Also there seemed to be a chapter about how we can tap into this since out of
body experiences can be manufactured easily. I’m still carefully going
through this book to see where those passages are.
This made me think of a self generated out of body experience. While in college I stole “Getting There Without Drugs” from the library and while only reading the bold text, was able to do this in a few minutes. I have not regenerated this phenomenon but intend to. Low and behold I see you can also have this book read to you via the Internet Archive.
