Started July 1st,
2000
Spoke to him while he was in Chicago.
Said he trusted me and I was to do what I wanted. I feel the best painting
was to just go ahead and paint a plate of french bread, french hard sausage,
french cheese, grapes, bottle of wine and a window in the background.
I painted the first in an appartment on Clinacourt, Paris and the second
in a small chapel on a estate in Geneva.

We’ve lived on these five
acres in central Kentucky for twenty nine years with our daughters, Abby
and Molly. Abby and Molly are now students at the University of Kentucky.
We built our home out of stone found on this property using a modified
slip form method described in Helen and Scott Nearing’s The Good
Life. We’re very happy with the outcome. Incidentally, this
book is an essential addition to your library if you plan for or dream
of a more self-sufficient future. We’ve also watched in amazement
as a bare piece of cow pasture has transformed into a veritable Eden through
our benign neglect.
We grow paw paws, persimmons,
elderberries and Mayapples for our own enjoyment. We are interested, however,
in developing a paw paw orchard and selling both fruits and trees. We’ve
made some wonderfully delicious paw paw custards, ice creams and pies.
We’ve also made an elderberry wine that is reminiscent of Miers 44--only

Chester’s
Dream
I had a dream about Chester’s
Home. A house had been demolished on the property. It was a pile of rumble
next to another house, which was Chester’s. Just across the way was
another home. It was like these two left over homes so close to each and
not with horse and in a mile of another. Chester came riding out of the
woods on his horse. There may have been a woman behind him. We settled
in to having fun. Chester complained that he could be as wild as he wanted
to be because of the close neighbor. He wanted to buy the place but they
could not sell. Chester wanted to buy the place and turn the settlement
into a Chester compound. We could not even smoke a joint because the smell
would wave over to the neighbors.

Tom's first painting. Done while
he was a sophmore in college. He had moved back home from Lexington and
the University of Kentucky. Working for his father's advertising company
and attending Northern Kentucky University.
