Tom Lohre: This evening I put my father's name, Harold Lohre, into the computer to see what would come up for his name. I found a couple things on him but also found your art webpage and other sites that also included your work. Lohre is such an unusual last name, I have to wonder if we are somehow related. My ancestors come from Norway and the village/farm name was Lohre. An uncle and a couple of my first cousins have been back over there to visit and I believe this is located in northern Norway. If you would, please let me know if you might know something about your ancestors also. The majority of my dad's family settled in Minnesota. I look forward to hearing from you.

My name is Gary L. Lohre, My father is Frank Shively Lohre, born March 5th, 1913 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. His Father's name is Julius Lohre born in 1889. Not knowing anybody on my fathers side of he family as he left me at the age of one years old. My mother never willing to talk about my father. I found your name on Goggle search and if you know of any of these names I would appreciate any information to my Fathers side.

Betty LaPorte
    Betty A. LaPorte, 70, of Port Orchard died Oct. 22, 2001, at her home.
    She was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Roseau, Minn., to Ernest and Ida (Lohre) Johnson. She graduated in 1950 from South Kitsap High School.
    She married Doug LaPorte on June 30, 1978, in Port Orchard.
    Mrs. LaPorte was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, RV camping and her dog, Max.
    Survivors include her husband; three sons, Steven and Stanley LeFave, both of Port Orchard, and Larry LeFave of Anacortes; one sister, Darlene Knutson of Anacortes; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
    Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service today at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. An open house will follow the service at the family home. Interment will be at Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard. An online memorial can be visited at www.rill.com.

OVER KVÅSEN - OVER KVÅSEFJORDEN I BÅT AV RUNE BELSVIK

«Då eg kom til Kristiansand blei eg jo fortalt kor fantastisk det
var å ha båt. Eg måtte jo ha båt! Men å skaffa seg båt og å ha
båt for ein som aldri har hatt båt før er ikkje berre idyll,» sier
Rune Belsvik. Og nettopp idyllen og båten og familielivet på
sjøen er de ytre rammene for hans nye stykke «Over Kvåsen».
Få forfattere skildrer samliv – det å kunne snakke sammen,
eller ikke kunne snakke sammen, og det å ha omsyn for
hverandre – som Rune Belsvik. Med båtlivet som bakteppe er
det følelser og evnen til å ta vare på hverandre som er det
egentlige temaet i «Over Kvåsen».
Mange kjenner Rune Belsviks «Sommersang 1993». Den er
også med i «Over Kvåsen», sammen med en rekke nye viser –
alle til toner av Jan Erik Usterud.

Morie's family was Basque. His branch of the family lived in BC. In and
around Vancouver I believe. He maintained that he was the last of that part of his family, and was not aware of any other living blood relatives.

Tom did at one time correspond via e-mail with a German Naval Officer who was a Lohre
